Meet Our Director

CARLY DELL

Carly Dell earned her bachelor’s degree in Dance from the University of Tampa, where she performed and choreographed for various collegiate productions.

Throughout her time at the University of Tampa, Carly developed her teaching practice through the university’s Dance Program, with an emphasis on Brain-Compatible Teaching Methodology. With more than seven years of teaching experience, she has taught students of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds, fostering a love of movement and creating meaningful learning experiences through dance.

In addition to teaching and choreographing, Carly has presented her research and participated as a panelist at the American Collegiate Dance Association Southwest Conference (ACDA 2025) and the National Dance Education Organization Conference (NDEO 2023). Her research, “Enhancing Social and Emotional Health in Older Adults Through Dance,” was published in the Butler Journal of Undergraduate Research.

Carly was proudly recognized as the University of Tampa’s 2023–2024 Outstanding Dance Student of the Year. In 2025, she was also honored with the Charlene Gordon Excellence Award from the University of Tampa for her unwavering commitment to bringing dance into the community.

While Carly enjoys teaching dancers of all ages, she has a special passion for inspiring young dancers and nurturing a lifelong love of the arts. Through Unity in Motion SRQ, she creates a positive, inclusive, and inspiring environment where every dancer is encouraged to grow, connect, and discover the joy of movement. She is proud to be building a community that inspires, uplifts, and creates meaningful experiences for dancers and their families.

Meet Our Team

JULIA TOMLINSON

Julia Tomlinson began her dance training at the age of five, studying classical ballet and jazz at Gulf Coast Ballet through her early teenage years. She later continued dancing as a member of her high school Highland Dance Team and has since returned to dance as an adult.

Julia is currently in her second year with Sarasota Contemporary Dance Ensemble (SCDE), where she trains in a variety of styles including ballet, contemporary, jazz, Afro Fusion, tap, and hip-hop. Through SCDE, she also assists with the homeschoolers’ dance class and substitutes for other children’s classes.

Alongside her dance background, Julia brings five years of experience working in early childhood education, where she progressed from teaching assistant to co-teacher and eventually lead teacher. She is passionate about combining her love of dance with her experience working with young children to create a positive, welcoming, and encouraging environment where students can feel confident expressing themselves.

Julia believes dance is a powerful way for children to connect with their bodies, build confidence, develop creativity, and form meaningful friendships. She especially loves helping young dancers work through challenges, celebrate their progress, and discover the joy of moving and expressing themselves. She is excited to continue growing as a teacher and sharing her love of dance with the next generation of dancers.
